Here is Why You Should Avoid Eating Fruit Immediately After a Meal
There’s no doubt that eating fruit is extremely important to our general health and wellbeing. But eating fruits don’t mean just buying fruits, cutting it and just putting it into our mouths whenever we feel like it. It’s not that simple as you imagine. It’s good to know that eating it should follow some general guidelines to fully benefit our health. For example, it’s important to know how and when to munch the fruits. In case you eat fruits on empty stomach, it will play a significant role to detoxify your system, providing you with a lot of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
Let us say you eat 2 slices of bread and then a piece of fruit. The piece of fruit is prepared to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is blocked from doing so as a consequence of the bread taken before the fruit. Meanwhile, the entire meal (bread & fruit) rots and ferments and turns to acid.
The moment when the fruit comes in touch with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food starts to spoil.
If you experience digestive discomforts such as indigestion, heartburn, burping and etc. you blame on the meal – it could be triggered by the combination of the food, the fermentation with fruit that causes your upset stomach. If left out of control it can result in other health problems that originate from the digestive tract.
For that reason make sure you eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals. When fruits are eaten alone, your stomach can more easily process all of the nutrients, fiber and the simple sugars contained in the fruit.
We eat about three large meals per day, so space out your fruit portions in between. This usually means you should look at the clock from time to time and estimate when you could eat the apple you brought along with you. And make sure you enjoy it about one hour before a meal or two hours after your meal.
Pasta or burgers and other heavier meals require a longer time to digest. So you need to let that food digest for even longer before you add fruit with all its acid into your stomach, about 3-4 hours. In case you eat just mixed green salad for lunch, same rules apply, but for a lot shorter time, about 1.5 hrs.
Definitely, avoid eating fruit before bedtime as there’s a lot of sugar in fruit to raise up your energy and keep you up when you need your sleep.
