Can You Lose Weight Just By Eating Healthy And Not Working Out?

One of the main reasons why people gain weight is the unhealthy eating pattern they follow. By changing the unhealthy eating pattern and getting rid of your bad habits (AKA processed food, sugars, fast food, high sodium prepared food…), chances are that you are going to lose weight and feel better.

Let’s be realistic, you’re not going to lose the extra weight overnight and yes you’re going to have some cheat days unless your mind is strong and you can already master the “no” answer. Now yes, it all comes down to eat smart and control your calories.

The only tried and true way to lose weight is to win the calorie battle. Simply put, you need to burn more calories than you consume each day to lose weight. You can do this by cutting down on your intake of calories or by increasing your level of physical activity. To lose weight healthy and steadily, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute recommends cutting 500 to 1,000 calories per day from your diet. This will give you a weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds per week. To keep track of calories, watch the nutrition labels on the foods that you eat and write them down in a journal to keep track of them.

A healthy eating plan that includes regular exercise is not only more successful — it’s also healthier. By eating a healthy diet and exercising, you’re keeping your bones, muscles, and heart strong and decreasing your risk of developing certain diseases. Implement some exercise, such as biking or walking, that can help you burn calories. If you’re overweight or obese, walking is an excellent way to begin a workout program because it’s low impact and easy on your joints. Even if you don’t necessarily lose weight, you will be healthier and you will feel and look better, too. If needed, consult with a nutritionist, he/she will give you a guideline to follow.
