Healthy Peach Smoothie Recipe
There’s nothing like a nutritious, delicious smoothie to start off your day. They’re easy to make, portable and filling. Peaches are a wonderful ingredient for smoothies because they can be bought either fresh or frozen. They add a unique taste and they have a ton of health benefits.
This peach smoothie recipe is my absolute favorite. It allows the flavor of the peaches to truly shine, yet it still has some depth. Served with strawberries and bananas, this smoothie is sweet enough for everyone to enjoy and has plenty of nutrition.
The taste of peaches is like summer in a cup. Peaches ripen in hot weather, and fresh peaches are known for that intensely sweet and juicy flavor. However, frozen peaches allow this smoothie to be served all year round.
Peaches have a range of health benefits. As an ancient Chinese fruit, this food has been used in sweet delicacies for thousands of years. It’s high in antioxidants, which help fight free radicals in the body and defend against disease and aging. Like other fresh produce, peaches can help prevent various cancers as well as heart diseases. They improve gut health, and they’re a natural anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory food.
- 2 medium-size bananas
- 2 peaches (or 1.5 to 2 cups frozen peach slices)
- a dozen strawberries
- 1 cup of almond milk, or another plant-based milk
- handful of ice cubes (optional)
If you’re using fresh peaches, you’ll need to first remove the stone and cut into slices. Don’t remove the skin, though — studies show that the skin holds a lot of the nutritional properties. Frozen peaches are usually already peeled, so don’t worry about it if yours are. They’ll still be delicious and healthy.
Peel and slice your bananas, and slice your strawberries. The best smoothies incorporate at least one frozen ingredient, so if you have time, toss your sliced bananas and strawberries into the freezer beforehand — especially if you’re using fresh peaches. Frozen fruit makes the texture much better!
If you don’t have time to freeze the fruit beforehand, just toss some ice cubes in for a similar effect.
Finally, place all the sliced fruit into the smoothie blender. Add a cup of almond milk and ice and blend until smooth.
